  • When you apply for the credit card, you choose the date you want to make payments to your card and the minimum monthly amount you will pay. The credit card bill is issued on the last working day of each month.
  • You can see your bill in the Nordea Netbank, where you can also get the best overview of your card transactions and any debts you may have.
  • The most convenient way to pay your bills is to set up a direct debit to make the payments from your main Nordea account. Simply ask in your local Nordea branch, call the Telephone Bank, or send the request through the Nordea Netbank.
  • In addition, you can also pay any amount back to your card account at any time if you want to increase the funds available on your card account.
  • How much of your credit card you repay and when are flexible. For example, if you set 50% as the minimum amount to be paid each month when you applied for the card, there will be no interest on the half of your purchases that you pay by the payment date. Then you can pay for the other half of your purchases later.
  • Any changes you make to the minimum amount or the payment date will apply immediately, provided that you have made them before the bill is issued on the last working day of the month.

The insurance is provided by AIG Europe Limited, part of the world's largest insurance group with 40 million customers in 160 countries all over the world.

The insurance covers you as the Platinum cardholder (if you are 14 to 78 years old) and any family members who are travelling with you for up to three months.

Nordea Platinum credit card travel insurance FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is the travel insurance valid? Is it valid everywhere in the world?

The insurance is valid everywhere in the world except in Estonia or your home country.

Who is insured? Is it only me or my whole family?

The insurance covers you as the cardholder of the Nordea Platinum if you are 14 to 78 years old and the family members accompanying you on your trip. Your family members for the insurance are your spouse or partner aged between 14 and 78, and your children, grandchildren, stepchildren, adopted children or foster-children aged up to 22 if they live at the same permanent address as you, or your children if they live together with their other parent but are travelling with you as the cardholder.

If two family members (or 4–5 + n people a ) are travelling together and both or all have Nordea Platinum, Business or similar credit cards,  can the limits of their individual cards be added up if their costs exceed the limit on one card?

Even if you have more than one card that give you travel insurance, you as the insured person are covered only once, so the limits of individual cards cannot be added up.

What is covered by the insurance if my luggage arrives late at my travel destination or back at home, or if it gets lost completely?

If your luggage arrives late at your travel destination it is covered up to the amount insured.
If your luggage arrives late at home you can’t claim on the insurance.
If your luggage is lost it is covered up to the amount insured.

Who is considered to be a family member?

Your family members for the insurance are your spouse or partner and your children, grandchildren, stepchildren, adopted children and foster-children. The insurance also covers your children, grandchildren, stepchildren, adopted children and foster-children up to 22 years old if they are studying full-time and if they do not live at the same permanent address as you.

The family is travelling together and during the trip my child turns 22. Will the insurance cover cease automatically?

The insurance is valid only when the student is travelling together with the cardholder and the trip is not longer than 90 days.

What is the limit for hospital expenses?

75,000 euros

How are the limits that are set out in the terms and conditions of the insurance applied? Which limits apply to the card and which to the family members travelling with me?

Unless otherwise provided in the terms and conditions, all the indemnities detailed in the coverage table in the terms and conditions apply for one insured event and one person.

Who will help me if I have questions about what the travel insurance covers on my trip? Who can I turn to?

Is the insurance valid if the travel and tickets for the cardholder of the Nordea Platinum credit card are paid for by the cardholder's employer? If so, under what circumstances? Who is the beneficiary in this case?

The insurance only covers losses that are suffered by you as the cardholder such as medical assistance, late departure or loss of luggage and personal belongings. However, if you have not paid for the travel costs yourself, the costs from the cancellation or interruption of the trip will not come directly to you but to your employer who paid for the airfares or the trip. As your employer is not the insured person, you can’t claim these costs under the insurance.

 
Nordea Gold, Nordea Credit and Nordea Platinum credit cards come with purchase protection insurance, which gives paying by card great added value.

NB! Purchase protection insurance does not extend to MC Gold credit cards, which are no longer concluded (ever since 11.02.2013).

  • Purchase protection guarantees a right to compensation across the globe (also online) for goods purchased with a valid Nordea Gold, Nordea Credit or Nordea Platinum credit card in case of incidental damage, theft or robbery if
  • Purchase protection starts at the moment the purchase was paid for by the aforementioned card and is valid for 60 days.
  • The purchasing price of the purchased item must be between 100 euros and 2000 euros.

  • Under which circumstances is the purchased good insured?
    The good is insured if the cost of the good is 100-2000 EUR (max 5000 EUR in case of Platinum card) paid for by a valid Nordea Gold, Nordea Credit or Platinum credit card. The exclusions are specified in the insurance terms and conditions.
  • How long is the insurance valid for?
    The insurance is valid for 60 days after the good was purchased.
  • Will the cost of the good be covered in full if the good breaks?
    If the good can be repaired, then the repair costs will be compensated after subtracting the deductible in the amount of 50 EUR. If an authorised repairs provider issues a certificate confirming that the good cannot be restored, then the full cost of the good will be compensated after subtracting the deductible in the amount of 50 EUR.

Your bank card is your electronic wallet. To make sure that your bank card is secure follow these simple principles:

  • Keep the PIN code of your card to yourself alone and never keep it together with the card. The PIN code is your electronic signature when you confirm transactions, so it is very important to keep it secret.
  • When you pay with your card make sure that it is not taken out of your sight.
  • Do not leave your card unattended.
  • When you enter your PIN code make sure that no one else can see it.
  • If you suspect that your bank card may have been used by an unauthorised person, inform the bank immediately and have your card closed.

If you have lost your card, call the bank immediately on the 24/7 service number 1772* / 6 283 300 (+372 6283300 from abroad) to have it closed and to prevent it from being used any further by an unauthorised person.
