Certificate authentication

A secure Nordea Internet bank connection - what does this mean?

Nordea’s Internet bank connection is encrypted with SSL technology.
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol safeguards information exchange between the bank and the client. For each connection, the client browser programme generates an encryption key, which is sent to the bank in encrypted form so that only the bank can decrypt it.

When the key is used, a MAC (message authentication code) is calculated for data exchange. When the key is used, the entire data exchange is encrypted, and thus it is not possible to see it from outside or change it.

The security of the connection is ensured with SSL technology. The padlock located on the status bar shows that the connection is secure. You can confirm whether the connection is indeed with Nordea Bank by clicking the padlock.
